Shelly Barley, Director of Life Enrichment

I was born here in Oregon, and this is where my heart and home is. I have also lived in Colorado, California and Washington. I’ve been with Miramont Pointe since 2004, and it has been a wonderful experience.

I have training in gerontology/sociology, “Best Friends” for Alzheimer’s care, horticulture therapy and volunteer groups. We place a high value on living an active life, whether it is physically, spiritually or cognitively — for every resident at every level. We encourage residents to develop new interests and embrace familiar ones, whether it is computers, art, exercise, college classes, volunteering, gardening and more. Our residents have time for themselves and others. They know how to live!

I have been married to my wonderful husband Jim for over 20 years. I have two children, Amanda and L.J. Our extended family includes two dogs, two cats and a talking parakeet. My family also loves to camp, fish, and we are very involved in our church.
